More and more engaged couples come to me with the proposal of a symbolic ritual for their wedding ceremony, sometimes to avoid religious themes in the celebration or others to give a more special touch to this moment, whatever it may be. For the reason, this type of ritual will always be a significant and different way to share with your guests the happiness of saying yes.
Today I want to talk to you about some rituals that are among the most common and charming:
CANDLE RITUAL
The candle ritual is also known as the light ceremony. To carry it out, you need two small candles that symbolize the couple and a larger candle that refers to life as a couple, (all must be white). Here it is about lighting, each one with candle in hand, the large candle at the same time, so that they symbolically begin their union and life as newlyweds.
RITUAL OF THE ARRAS
The ritual of the arras is an exchange of 13 coins that will pass through the hands of the couple as a symbol of the wealth, prosperity and happiness that they will share in their new life as spouses. In general, gold coins are used, although they can also be made of copper or tin. On some occasions they are delivered by the parents or godparents and on others, by the officiant of the ritual.
SAND RITUAL
The sand ritual is likewise one of the most popular among the couple; each one will have a small container with white or beige sand that they will gradually pour into a larger container. This union of the sands symbolizes the connection that the newlyweds will have in their married life.
